Snowbird and monthly rentals in Costambar
A month, a winter, or the whole season. $1,500 a month with the utilities included, five minutes from the beach, rented direct from the two of us.
What it costs
$1,500 a month, and the utilities are included — electricity, water and Wi-Fi. Against $150 a night that is about a third of the nightly rate, which is the point: we would rather have someone settled in for a season than a different set of keys every three days.
Residencial Montesino 2A is the exception. It can be taken furnished or unfurnished, and the rent depends on which — write to us and we will tell you.
A winter here, in practice
You land at Puerto Plata, twenty-five minutes away, and a taxi brings you to the door. Costambar is gated and about two thousand people live here, a mix of Dominicans, expats and people who come down every winter and have done for years. It is small enough to walk end to end.
The beach is five minutes on foot — a village beach, calm water, sea grape trees for shade, not a resort. The nine-hole golf course is directly across the road from us; you can walk to the first tee. There are colmados in the village for the everyday and half a dozen restaurants within a few minutes of the door. The big supermarkets and the banks are ten minutes away in Puerto Plata.
And when the power goes, which it does, the generator picks it up.
Who ends up staying
- Snowbirds. Most of our long stays. Down for the winter, gone before the heat.
- People working remotely who need Wi-Fi that holds a video call and somewhere quiet to take it.
- People trying Costambar before they buy here, which happens more than you would think. A season is a better test than a week.
What you get
Two bedrooms in every one of them, a full kitchen, air conditioning, fast Wi-Fi, a private terrace and parking. The Residencial Montesino apartments have two and a half baths and share a garden with a pool and a barbecue.
If there are more of you: Casita 3A and 3B are the two halves of one house. Taken together that is four bedrooms and room for eight — two couples, or a family with the grandparents — which is a size very little else in Costambar offers.
How to arrange it
Write to us with the months you want and which place interests you, on WhatsApp or through the form. We will tell you honestly what is free, what it costs, and what the neighbours are like. A deposit holds the dates and the rest we agree in writing before you arrive. There is no agency in the middle and nothing to pay on this website.
One thing worth saying plainly: we cannot take pets.
